True Life - I Pulled off a Sock Bun

For serious. After all of my Pinterest lust, I figured out how to do a sock bun.

Preface - I suck at anything hair related. My hair is either down and straight, or in a ponytail. I have no clue how to use a curling iron. Rollers scare me. My hair is not fun. It is not a hair amusement park, it's just business.

This is why I'm surprised I even figured out how to do this, but if I can, you can too! My tips - I used Mr. Bee's sock. He has 5 million socks, and his just felt luckier. Also, I can only do the sock bun using my MacBook as a mirror. Silly? Yes.

I Got Bangs!

My hair is so now. 10 points if you know where that quote is from.

Is anyone else participating in the Instagram February Challenge? This was my self-portrait for Day 10.

I'm usually pretty awful at these challenges, but I think I may actually finish this one. Fingers crossed.

And even my doggies are getting into the Valentine's Day spirit! The doggie daycare I take them to made dating profiles for all of the dogs there. Ellie and Tucker's are pretty spot-on. Hopefully they both find a love match this year!

Happy weekend!

Urban Decay Naked2 Palette: Not a Fav

I have been a die-hard MAC eyeshadow lover since they opened up show while I was in high school. You know, once I got off the Wet N' Wild eyeshadow train. And I honestly didn't think I would ever try another brand, until I saw the Urban Decay Naked2 Eyeshadow Palette.

I'm a sucker for neutrals and browns, so I decided to take the plunge and pick one up. And here's my honest review: I don't love it.

For $50, I really, really, really wanted to love it. Compared to MAC, 12 eyeshadows for $50 is a steal. And there are a few colors I really like, but I can't help comparing it to my favorite MAC shadows.

For example:
Urban Decay Snakebite = MAC Mulch
Urban Decay Busted = MAC Satin Taupe

..and so on.

And the shadows don't seem to hold up as well as my MAC colors. Since I don't really vary my eyeshadow combinations that often, I think I would've gotten more bang for my buck getting three MAC eyeshadows that I really love instead of the palette.

The brush that comes with the palette isn't the best. I know most eyeshadow lovers have their own favorite brushes, so the brush might not be a huge issue for you. And the last issue? I wish that the Naked2 palette came with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer instead of the Lipgloss. I'm really picky about my lipglosses, and I don't think the Junkie shade looks great with every skintone. In contrast, everyone can use the primer. And it's an eyeshadow palette, not a lipstick palette.

I usually post glowing product reviews, but I'm just not sold on the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette. Looks like I'll be a MAC gal from now on. Did any of you get this palette and if so, do you like it?
