T-Minus 3 Days till Reno Adventures

Hi my 100 friends!

I know you were thinking, "Wow! KatherineBee was blogging again and really seemed to be back in the game! Where the heck is she? Did I just get hosed?"

No, no you did not get hosed. I've been packing up my house, saying my last goodbyes to my friends and seeing my family, all in the middle of the only heat wave we've had in San Diego this summer. The official moving day is Friday, and my cable and internet will be up by Sunday, so I promise I'll be back in action soon! I'm slightly excited to show off my new digs and have fun decorating. Also plotting how to get out and meet people in the city since I'll be working from home. Until then, the sad photo that is my life.

Happy trails for now!

Restoration Hardware: Nursery Edition

I've been off for a few days trying to finalize things like ordering new cable, canceling utilities, packing everything I own. You know - the fun things. But I interrupt this blog break to bring you: Nursery furniture from Restoration Hardware. Holy Guacamole Batman! It's pretty much amazing.

Love the rustic feel of this one.

This one is very country french - even though I can imagine cats using that wicker to trim their nails.

Mr. Bee likes this one:

Now why doesn't Restoration Hardware have a Forever 21 equivalent? Not that I'd want to put my kids in something cute and current that fell apart easily, but it would be great to be able to find things like this that were reasonably priced. I'm sure I'll find things and make them over, but until then these are some great inspiration pieces.

Engagement Photos and Ugly Babies

I was going through some old photos the other day and thinking how handsome my husband is. I love Mr. Bee to death, and we had a great time taking engagement photos at Disneyland (where we got engaged) running around and being in love. It's almost fall (I'm counting the days!) and we love Disneyland when it's decorated for Halloween. Here are a few of my favorite photos.

Dia de los Muertos mariachis - Ole!

So why is it that after getting a Bump.com newsletter today featuring a "baby morpher" did I find out that our future bambino is going to look like a 40-year-old serial killer? With fangs! As my grandma put it, Mr. Bee is a good-looking fellow. I think my side of the gene pool is pretty satisfactory. This is why I have no idea where our little monster. came from.

My co-workers all tried it too and got pretty normal looking kids. Where "Lester" came from I don't know. I played around with different options and they all looked equally awful, including a Justin Beiber-looking little girl. I think the whole thing is pretty funny and we definitely had a ton of laughs in the office today, but please pray that our little one doesn't end up looking like Chucky.

The Buzz On: Olivia Palermo

When trying to figure out what I'm going to wear after I move (extreme heat and then cold??) I look to Olivia Palermo who can do no wrong when it comes to fashion. I love these looks that you can pull of during the daytime, and at night pair with a sweater or blazer to stay warm. I personally don't know if I'm a jean shorts kinda girl, but I'm willing to give it a go.

College Prep Giveaway: State Necklaces

I was thinking the other day that I'd really like a California necklace to sport during my year in Reno. Luckily College Prep just popped up with a giveaway from Alter Designs where you can win a free state necklace!

Then I started thinking, I was born in Minnesota, lived in Connecticut, moved to California and now I'm moving to Nevada. Do I need all three? Winning one would definitely help me with my new obsession.

Make sure to enter - good luck!

As If I'm Not Always Excited For Fall...

The new Lilly Pulitzer fall line is making me crave autumn like crazy!

Stephanie Shift Engineer Texture Dress (My absolute favorite!)

Jonah Dress Printed Ponte

Lulu Dress Ponte

These adorable Lilly iPhone covers from Lifeguard Press are also trying to eat away at my wallet:

And I'll finally live somewhere that gets fall foliage, which I'm really excited about! I also can't wait to see Lake Tahoe in autumn.

So that combined with all things pumpkin and cinnamon are giving me lots to look forward to and making the whole moving out-of-state thing a little easier. Plus summer is overrated.

What are you most looking forward to this autumn?

Buying Other People Baby Clothes

Makes my uterus ache, but boy, there are some super cute things out there. My co-worker is having a shower at work this week. She's naming her little boy Wyatt, and I just can't get past the adorable wild west-thing she has going on. So even though I know she's not going with a cowboy "theme," I couldn't resist getting her some of these goodies from Etsy.

These are all from Head Over Heels' shop and everything else on there is over-the-top adorable too. Plus, I was a total dummy and didn't look at her shipping times and she's going to overnight me the items anyway to make sure I have them before the shower.

I'm also on the lookout for the crochet floral headbands for a high school friend who just had a little girl. She was born two months early but got to come home a few days ago and is going to be just fine! If anyone has any good suggestions for good headband places or other cute things that I can get for her and also drool over myself please let me know!

Our House, is a Very, Very, Very Fine House

Except our cats will never be in the yard, because they are indoor cats.

We are really excited to move into a house together. Since the housing prices are so expensive in San Diego, we've only been able to afford renting an apartment/condo. Our new house is a 3 bedroom/2.5 bathroom with a small backyard. It's in a really cute, safe neighborhood which has lots of dog-friendly hiking trails. The layout is a little strange and may be a bit of a challenge to decorate, but we're up for it.

Here are a few photos:

The owner actually said that the previous owners modeled the kitchen after seeing Kirstie Alley's kitchen on Oprah. I just looked it up - pretty similar (at least the tile is).

I'll definitely be posting more in the upcoming weeks and once we're up there - decorating ideas are appreciated! The two guest bedrooms are small and one has a murphy bed, and there are two "living room" areas that are a little awkward. Anyway, it'll be a work in progress and I can't wait to live there when it is actually snowing. Who thought I'd live somewhere it snows again?
