Thanksgiving Catch-Up

Since we couldn't go home to see our families this year for Thanksgiving, we roughed it around Reno. Here's Mr. Bee looking thoughtful as he prepares to take on "THE SASQUATCH."

And me sitting with my tea, loving it up with my omelette.

Later we took Ellie for a walk in the snow. We're so surprised she loves it!

I have to say I love the snow (as long as I'm not driving in it.)

How could you not love this?

I'm so thankful for:
My family - wish I could have been with them this year
My friends - old and new.
My amazing husband who has truly been there for me through everything.
My dog and kitties - Their unconditional love is amazing.
My health - I can't believe that this time last year I was unable to walk. I thank God every day for all that I can now do.
My new job.
All of my blog/twitter friends!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving - I'm thankful for all of you!

Hair Makeovers

Since I've sworn that I'm growing out my hair and not dying it crazy colors, I've been living vicariously through People magazine's makeover website. And having a little too much fun.

The Buzz on: Cuff Boots

I was toying with the idea of getting these boots a few months ago and let Mr. Bee decide for me. He vetoed, I cried.

Tonight at dinner I saw another girl wearing cuffed boots, which re-instated my true love for this trend. These are my favorite pairs, but I'd love them even more if they were mid-calf boots instead.

or these similar ones from Forever 21

Other favorites:

Giuseppe Zanotti (I wish...)

Which are your favorites?

Philanthropy Friday

I was so excited to get out of the house this week to go to my Junior League meeting AND my first Alpha Phi alumnae chapter meeting up here. It's been really cold lately, so turtlenecks are my BFF right now. Here's what I wore to my meeting:

I went to Starbucks for my alumnae event the following night, and NO ONE was there. Seriously, no one but the people behind the counter. When I called the event coordinator to find out if I was lost, she let me know it was the previous night. Had my faithful iPhone calendar failed me?! No, it was just a huge, blonde moment. I sheepishly went home and changed back into my PJs, Starbucks Chai in hand.

I have to say I've been excited for so many opportunities to wear my boots!

Today was the last official day at my old job and my orientation at my new job. The resort I'm working at is HUGE. Luckily, I think all the walking I did today helped me work off the amazing Thai food I ate tonight. Who knew pumpkin curry was so good?

Gaucho Pants: Apparently Still, Still in Style

If you're a computer nerd like I am, you love checking your blog's Google Analytics. One of my favorite things to do is to check the search terms and see what people are Googling to find my blog. Out of the top 10 terms, 4 of them are asking if gaucho pants are still in style.

1. cupcakes and cocktails party
2. are gauchos still in style 2010
3. amazing baby names
4. gaucho pants 2010
5. are gaucho pants still in style 2010
6. anthropologie kids
7. cupcakes and cocktails
8. cocktails and cupcakes party
9. are gauchos still in style
10. dorothy hamill haircut

Honestly? I have not seen a single person (besides myself in the mirror wearing them as PJ bottoms) wearing gaucho pants. But apparently people are still searching for them. Hardcore. My advice to you: Grab your time machine, head back to 2004 and grab your gauchos. If you're spending time Googling if they are still in style, you probably miss them. So pull your fav gauchos out of your spare bedroom from under the bed and put them on. Maybe you'll inspire someone else!

Let it Snow!

I woke up the other morning...and it was snowing! This was the first time since I was 7 or 8 that I've woken up to snow, so obviously I was excited. After waking up Ellie and Mr. Bee, I decided to see how my dog would react to her first snow.

Ellie was...hesitant. She grew up in a condo, so she's definitely spoiled when it comes to being in the elements. Once she got the hang of it though, she was pretty excited.

Unfortunately it all melted away by that afternoon, but it was wonderful having a snow morning! I can't believe I'm actually living in the cold, and liking it! I'm definitely getting my money's worth from my coat habit.

My front yard

So this is a first for me, but Christmas music gets to come early. It's snowing, and Bing Crosby is a go. You won't see a tree up until after Thanksgiving, but I'm definitely getting in the holiday spirit a little early!

I'm a Worker Bee!

I got a job up here! I'll be doing internet marketing and communications for an awesome company and I'll start next week while still filling in at my old work part-time until they find a replacement. I'm really excited, even though it's a bittersweet change since I love my current job. Thanks for all the good thoughts!

Cotton Anniversary - Dos Anos!

Yesterday Mr. Bee and I celebrated two years of marriage. It's crazy to think it's already been two years since our wedding, and that this time last year I was in and out of the hospital. We've been through so much together in the six years we've been together and I still love him just as much as when we first met.

About a month after we met - Warped Tour

Since it was our "cotton anniversary," we got each other the only sensible thing we could think of: a new bed. I've had the same bed since sophomore year of college and I did not get it new. This bed has survived 5 moves, one out of state, and is just now being retired. Cheers to our marriage lasting longer than our old bed!
