Old Hollywood Makeup and Mac Holiday Must-Haves

Before I got married, I was having the toughest time figuring out how I was going to do my makeup. I know that a lot of girls like to go more natural, but I wear makeup daily, and honestly, look like a 12 year-old if I don't wear much. And I didn't want to make my husband-to-be look like he was marrying a 12-year-old, because that's illegal in most states.

I was sorting through some of our photos the other day and remembered that I got the inspiration for my wedding makeup from a YouTube video I came across one day. I went a little lighter on the eyeliner, but I love this look and it's perfect for upcoming holiday parties.

The Final Result

SarahVictor has some great makeup tutorials, especially for those who are more inclined to do a smoky eye look. I have my everyday makeup routine, but for special occasions I like to browse the 'Tube and find some inspiration.

MAC had some great new mineralized makeup out of the holidays and it's already sold out! Their new mineralize "Style Black" collection has some of the best colors I've seen to date and there's absolutely nothing left on the website. Hopefully there are still a few out in the stores that I can snag - it takes me forever to go through one of these bad boys.

God I love cold weather and an excuse to wear jewel-toned makeup! Has anyone tried this new line yet? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they have some hidden at Nordstrom's.

  1. love, love, LOVE your bridal makeup. Gorgeous!

I'm always trolling youtube for tutorials too. haha. Now to get my hands on the MAC makeup...

  2. They only have the silver and the blue at all the mac counters I've been to. They're all sold out online except for these colors but they still have the gold on the bloomies website*1*24*-1*-1*2

  3. You make-up looked great! I get scared that I will hate mine since everytime I get it done I don't like it...

  4. Hi Phoebe,

Thanks for the tip on belts at Kohls! Unfortunately, there isn't one in NYC, but I'll check out one when I'm back in MN for Christmas.

Love your blog! I pursued some of your older entries and agree with you:
    1) Plagiarism does suck. And yes, it applies to photos too!
    2) Trader Joe's pumpkin bread makes the best muffins ever. Period.
