Roaming With the Gnome Weekend

Woke up and head out to Mission Beach to meet up with the famous Travelocity gnome. Took photos all along the boardwalk and on the beach. Had way too much fun taking him along with me and posing him, and was fortunate enough to have some great lifeguards there who let me play with all of their gear.

We packed up all of our things and head out to SeaWorld, where the gnome was part of the Shamu show. I got to go to all of the behind the scenes places like the Sea Lion & Otter show stage and inside the Arctic Penguin exhibit. I'm a huge animal person and was seriously more excited about doing this than working with any celebrity.
Came home after my day-long adventure and totally crashed out. Woke up and had dinner with Mr. Bee and made cinnamon rolls, which were immediately devoured. Passed out again (re-passed out?)
Woke up early again and head to the San Diego Zoo to meet up with my new BGF (Best Gnome Forever). Got to see the pandas (but not the new baby), a binturong, and feed the giraffes. One of my work friends was taking a picture of me and a giraffe came up from behind and blew in my ear!
Finished up for the day and head to Michael's to pick up some supplies for my fall blog swap partner. Was tempted into Loehmann's and Nordstrom's Rack while I was there, and picked up another pair of black flats. Yes, this is coming from the same girl who swore she's be an 80-year old woman wearing 4 1/2 inch heels in her motor scooter. I can't help it. I eat my words. Ballerina flats are amazing. Like these, but better:
Ran home to change and head to my friend's baby shower. She's having identical twin boys and I'm so excited to meet them! Got to enjoy a fun afternoon of shower games and hanging out with my awesome sorority advisor friends. :)

2 of them are pregnant and one already has a baby, so I am looking forward to being auntie to all of the cute babies my friends are having in the next couple months. I think I have 8 showers coming up! This was worse than wedding year!

Woke up early and took Eleanor to dog park. While we were there we ran into an Ellie look-alike who we found out is probably one of her littermates! They were born around the same time and are pretty much identical twins. They have the same temperment and the same health issues too.

Ellie + Penelope

After my little doggie was all tuckered out I took her home and Mr. Bee and I went out for a day of window shopping. He let me spend longer than expected at Lilly Pulitzer and Anthropologie, and even wanted candles for himself from both places. We had a great lunch at Cheesecake Factory and ordered the forbidden Red Velvet Cheesecake to bring home, which was AMAZING! I'm not even a cheesecake fan and I basically devoured it. If I was out I might have made a scene. Spent the rest of the night resarching Dells and Apples. I don't know if you read, but my hard drive crashed and I lost EVERYTHING on my computer. I was not expecting to get a new laptop anytime soon so it's a pain I have to have one now, but hopefully it'll all work out for the best.

Was too full to eat anything after that cheesecake, so we lounged on the couch (Ellie too) and watched True Blood before I tried to go to bed. Also ended up reading Jodie Picault's Tenth Circle. I like trashy books as much as the next girl, but I wasn't head over heels about the book. It was kind of awkward having to tell my husband it was about, "comic books and rape". If you're looking for a good Jodie Picault book I'd definitely recommend My Sister's Keeper over any of her other books. Some of her books are enjoyable to read, but it almost seems like she has a formula where she inserts new names and different locations for her characters and comes out with the same books she's written before.

I've also been reading the Sookie Stackhouse series and am hoping to read the Time Travelers Wife next. I need to put together a cohesive reading list so I don't need to run to the bookstore for anything!

It was a long weekend for me - I feel like I need another day to recover!!

  1. I keep hearing about this red velvet cheesecake and really want to try it!

ps. tenth circle wasn't one of her best, I would agree!

  2. I completely agree with Jodi Piccoult. if you have read one you have read them all...and My Sister's Keeper was the best. Read The was so good!

  3. I totally agree about jodi Piccoult everybody loves her and her books just bore me completely now. I have heard The Pact is decent though
