The Buzz on Dorm Decor

It's almost back to school time, and that means dorm decor is in full force everywhere. I've been getting a ton of sorority recommendation requests lately, which means rush is impending and move-in time is coming soon. Everything I've seen out lately is so darn cute - I feel like I didn't have any options when I went to school!

Most of the things from my dorm room were from Bed Bath and Beyond and Linens and Things (RIP), and I know there are some good finds at Target and Macy's, but I came across Pottery Barn Teen and it had some of the cutest things I just had to share:

 Wake up call!
Perfect for jewelry or saving notes
These phones used to exist, just not as cute!
Can't believe they make cute sheets in Twin XXL!

Canopies = ultimate princess palace
Can't paint your room? Decals are easy to remove.
How cute is this teacup lamp?
Monograms: So you don't forget your name.
 Everyone needs a bulletin board.

I know I got a little carried away (I even deleted a few!) but I just thought these were great finds for a girl dorm/sorority room. Unfortunately, this site is also connected to Pottery Barn Kids/Babies, which has Halloween costumes up. Can I buy this now and put it away?

Don't mind the baby polar bear
My daughter, the cupcake

God, I can't wait to have kids who are embarrassed of me.

Country French

I picked up a copy of Country French magazine while I was out the other day. I'm a huge fan of Country Living, and a magazine that shows my love of French Provencial furnishings is my new favorite. It's such a shame it only comes out twice a year.

The last one is actually a hutch I found on Craigslist that I'd be all over if I lived in a house. I think it would probably take up my whole condo.

Milestone: I finally got HBO. I feel so lame that I'm actually excited about it, but I hate being on Twitter and seeing True Blood trending. I've never watched any of the other shows like Entourage, but I had rented Big Love and really enjoyed it.

New York, New York

One of my favorite places to shop is New York and Company. I discovered them after graduating college when I learned that I actually had to buy adult-type work clothes (you mean no more Juicy jumpsuits??) to wear to the office. NY&CO has amazing sales all the time and give away coupons like it's going out of style. The other day I was in there I was able to get a great work dress for $11 and a shirt for $10, plus I had two 30% off coupons.
I admit it's a little hit or miss sometimes, but these are some of the upcoming fall things I spotted on their website that are adorable. The store is a bit better stocked and I swear the 60% off rack covers half of the store.

I especially love all of the cute ruffle and flower outfits. They have a ton of individual flower brooches you can buy for $4 that correspond with cardigans and shirts in the store. I bought one the other day and stuck it on my sweater and voila, it was a whole new outfit!

This would be a cute happy hour top.

This dress looks perfect for work and after work too.

The only difficulty for me is that it's made for average body types, and so I sometimes have issues finding the correct fit or size (I've been a 4, 2, and a 0), so it helps to actually go into the store instead of just purchasing off the website. Also, when you purchase something you can get a free reward card where they send you ridiculous prices and you get something like $25 off every $100 purchase in addition. Bargain shopping is pretty amazing.

I Saw Red

Most people would never guess, but I'm a natural redhead. More strawberry blonde than red, but still pretty red. I've been a blonde for about 8 years and I'm thinking about going back towards my roots (literally). I had a hair consultation tonight with a new stylist since mine moved to San Francisco and I'm dying without her. Which is why my hair resembles Madonna in the 80's, but with red roots and not black.

Me now

I'm thinking of just doing a mix of highlights and lowlights and gradually going a bit more natural. I think my hair color may be kind of like Isla Fisher's hair here:

Like this?

Or a little lighter?

As long as I don't look like this:

Suggestions? Brutal honesty is always appreciated.

I'm catching up on Dating in the Dark and it's just not as cool as I thought it was going to be. I am excited for More to Love, the larger-boned Bachelor show. I love guilty pleasure TV. I also just got all of the Sookie Stackhouse books from my MIL this weekend and some great reads from one of my friends at work, so I have a full reading list to look forward to! Now if I could just get a vacation...

I Survived Comic-Con

Well, I didn't actually go inside, but spent Friday outside taking photos for work of all of the people in costume. I wouldn't normally blog about this, but I was so excited to see all of the people walking around downtown in costume.

Me & Jedi Elvis

The Joker

This guy was way too in character and like 10 feet tall

Paper Bag Man?

Indiana Jones!

I was super happy I decided to wear my new Revas that day - The heels I was planning on wearing would have killed me.

I spent the weekend with my husband and mother-in-law up in L.A. this weekend and it was really nice to get away. We spent most of our time looking at cars for her and trying to convince my husband that we will never need a mini van. I really like the Jetta TDI Station Wagon, although I wish they had the Passat Wagon in its old body style in diesel. I love station wagons.

I could see me driving this.
I'm not really into cars, but I do love that one a ton.

Do You Post Your Own Guest Post?

I don't know what the rules of guest-posting is, but if you were curious about my guest post for Undomesticated Newlywed and my most covet-worthy fall items are, here it is. Sorry for any bad blogging etiquette, feel free to scold me!

Hi loyal readers of Undomesticated Newlywed - I'm Katherine Bee of Bees and Bows. I'm so excited to get a chance to do my first blog swap and have the chance to get to write for such a fun blog. I'm a mid-twenties newlywed living in San Diego and dreaming of living anywhere cold that has seasons. I live with my wonderful husband Mr. Bee, two bad kitties and bad doggie, and love everything related to autumn, Chipotle, sweaters, antique jewelry, baking, and books.

It's finally starting to heat up in San Diego and the emails are already flooding my inbox about fall fashion. I can't wait for the day I feel a crisp in the air and get the validation that it's ok to wear skirts, cardigans and equestrian boots. It seems silly to already make my list of my f
all must-haves, but I definitely can't wait till the days start getting shorter and I can wear my fall favorites again.

Tulip Skirt
Doesn't this look just like a cute fall apron?

Anka Jacket
I love the little tie on the side - it looks like a jacket worn in the movie The Secret Garden.

Lilly Pulitzer:

Stephanie Shift
The greens and blues go so well together - so pretty!!

Lissette Skirt Paisley
I love this pattern - it would be perfect for work.

Agnes Skirt - LOVE YOU! Could dress it up or down. The peacock design is just so fun.

Sandpiper Peacock Dress
This looks so cute on - I promise.

From MyLavaliere

The Birds and the Bees

Brass Bird and Acorn Necklace

J Crew Acorn Bracelet

And the essential fall clutch:

J Crew Silk Satin Fiori Clutch

These are just a few of a long list of covetable fall items I will lust over for the next months. I think the reason they send these out is to give you hope and strength during summer so you survive the heat and are rewarded with amazing clothes.

Anyway, those are my must-have pieces that I'm going to save and acquire in the past few months. I wish they could come over and live with me now!

You've Got Mail!

You've Got Mail has got to be one of my favorite movies of all time. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, cute outfits, bookstores, New York, dogs and email.

This post could easily turn into my love letter to the movie, but instead it's about the abundance of cuteness in my mailbox today. The wonderful MyLavaliere from Etsy was so nice and sent me the umbrella necklace that I love!! I seriously want everything from her shop - sorry if this blog is just about my etsy obsession! But just look how cute everything is, including the box it came in.

I could imagine buying just this box for a gift.

Look how cute this necklace is! I hope it brings rain!

Even Allistaire loves it!

I also got the onesie from Etsy that I ordered for my friend's baby shower next week. Secretly, I want to keep it. Ok, it's not so secret. I love it, it's so little, and I wish it was mine, and that I wouldn't be a crazy, baby-obsessed woman if I kept it. Hopefully work friend doesn't read the blog, but just in case, here's part of your present:

How cute is this??!

I got it from Fen and Liv on etsy, and she makes clothes in all sorts of baby sizes along with all sorts of other cute baby things like this:

Playtime cookies

Of course, I was really really hoping my Tory Burch shoes would be here today too, but I can wait another day and not die. I think. I've never been excited about flats before - I hope this doesn't mean I'm getting old.
**Update - ok MrsFord, you caught me, The other onesie (ok, there's 2, they're for twins) hidden in my closet. Ellie loves it too - I love that you can see both of our toes in the picture.
